  • NO PARKING FIRE LANE stencils at the spacing the marshal requires
  • Hatched no-parking zones in front of hydrants, doors and loading areas
  • Fire apparatus access route lines along drives and building perimeters

Common questions about fire lanes & no-parking zones

What color do fire lanes have to be in Connecticut?
It depends on the town. The local fire marshal sets the standard, and many Connecticut towns specify yellow curbs and lettering while others use red. If you have a letter from the marshal, we match it exactly. If not, we can check with the office before we paint.
How often do fire lane markings need to be repainted?
Whenever they are no longer clearly legible. In practice that is every one to three years, sooner on lots with heavy plow traffic. Faded fire lane markings are one of the most common items on a re-inspection list.
Do you install fire lane signs?
We handle the pavement and curb markings. Posted signs are usually installed by a sign contractor or the property's maintenance crew, and we can tell you what the marshal is likely to ask for.
